 *Case update 28 March 2018* This is one of two conjoined appeals the other being PPA-390-2029. The papers connected with both appeals can be found under this case reference. On 3 October 2017 Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy made a statement to the Scottish Parliament confirming that the Scottish Government will use planning powers to ensure that any unconventional oil and gas applications are considered in line with its position of not supporting unconventional oil and gas. On 24 October 2017, the Scottish Parliament confirmed its agreement with the Scottish Government’s position of not supporting the development of unconventional oil and gas in Scotland, endorsed the government’s decision to introduce an immediate and effective ban on onshore unconventional oil and gas developments using its devolved powers, and noted that this position will be subject to a strategic environmental assessment before being finalised. In light of these developments, on 8 November 2017, the appointed reporters wrote to the parties for their views on what they should do with the appeals. Following consideration of the responses, and in light of the court challenge that the appellant has brought, the reporters have resolved to hold the appeal in sist until the outcome of the challenge is known.
